Heather spent most of the '70's working and living in Southern Africa.
She initially went to South Africa to work with Scripture Union but most of her working time was as Register for a large South African College, enabling visits to many of the Southern African countries, a privilege still cherished today.
Heather has revisited the area several times but it was not until last year she went again to Botswana for a couple of weeks. Her passion for the land and people was re-kindled.
Bushmen have lived in Botswana since the fourth century but it is likely people inhabited the land much earlier. Two interesting stories: King Solomon's mine and the lost city of Africa are both meant to be there. Wendy Quilter thanked Heather and presented her with lovely posy flowers
It was lovely to see members Bev, Lorraine, Patty, Di and Lyn at the meeting after an absent of time. Welcome to guests Lyn Callaghan and Wyn West from Young Branch and Gail Gemmell from the Central Coast who some residents may remember when her husband Mike was principal at Wyangla forty years ago. A special welcome to new member Jenny White
Rowena gave a talk on ACWW and the work this wonderful organization does for women across the world. An ACWW display is currently in our "Pop Up Shop" in the former Hippity Hop Shop. Do have a look if you're passing that way. Jean reported on helping at the CWA Royal Easter Show kiosk
It was decided to give a donation to Brody Hannan to help with his trip to USA
We wish Phyllis a speedy recovery. Andrea and Ann will fill her positions until the end of the year
Member's news: Congratulation to Julie Clements on the arrival of another granddaughter, Georgia May, courtesy of her daughter and son in law, Bronwyn and Graham. Andrea has just returned from three weeks in South Africa after attending her son's wedding.
Cheryl won the competition with ticket no 54 and Rowena won the ticket to the Eisteddfod
Our next meeting will be on June 11th at the Services Club. Guests are always welcome. Contact Jo Chambers by 8th on 63413872 for further details
