Tippett and Goodes can press their case for a recall from lengthy layoffs by training and pulling up well on Thursday while Reid, recovering from an Achilles tendon strain suffered three weeks ago, will also put his hand up if he too can make it on to the track.

This could leave the Swans' match committee with the desirable dilemma of how to manage the returns of three star players.

While match practice is not an issue with Reid, who played in the opening two rounds, the Swans may consider it a risk to play both Goodes and Tippett in the firsts due to their limited preparations.

"We're acutely aware we need them both back in the team pretty soon," Swans coach John Longmire said.

"It's just a matter of whether it's this week or not. It'll be more than likely one of them plays in the seniors, at this point I don't know, I'll have to wait and see how the week unfolds."

A possible scenario where both Tippett and Goodes play would see one starting in the green vest while the other is subbed off later in the game.

Swans coach John Longmire all but ruled out a second match in the reserves for Tippett if he trained well on Thursday.

Longmire was in favour of Tippett playing Fremantle early last week but decided to err on the side of caution as the forward had not played all year.

"He mightn't do much tomorrow but if he's able to get through training [on Thursday] I'd say he'd be putting his hand up for senior selection," Longmire said.

"He feels pretty good today. We'll try and train him on Thursday, that's the aim, and see how he pulls up after that."

Goodes has not played at any level since injuring his knee 10 months ago but Longmire is keen to have the dual Brownlow medallist playing if fit.

"If he trains Thursday and pulls up well we'd like to be able to play him this weekend," Longmire said.

"We're not sure how that looks this week. It might evolve around Kurt as well."

The Swans reserves play Brisbane on Friday and travel to Mackay on Thursday morning.

Longmire was pleased with the Swans' win over Fremantle, which came after a longer-than-normal review of their loss against North Melbourne a week earlier.

The review involved input from Leading Teams, the leadership training firm used by the Swans and several other AFL clubs, and involved watching the entire game, rather than edits.

"Sometimes when you do video edits you can miss the context of the game or not nail it properly," Longmire said.

"We've done it a couple of times over the last three-and-a-half years and we did it again on Monday.

"We watched the game and talked about the game we saw, simple as that.

"It wasn't a good game so we weren't sitting around congratulating each other."

Longmire said the Swans needed to back up their win against Fremantle with another strong showing, as opposed to their hot-and-cold form against Adelaide and North Melbourne.

"We consider ourselves to be reasonably competitive over a number of years," Longmire said.

"Any team that has aspirations of having a competitive year needs to do it week-in, week-out.

"That's what our challenge will be, to continue that focus this week."
