The year 12 student says he is excited for the opportunity.

"I don't think that there is any scale which could fathom the amount of excitement I feel," he said.

The Cowra Rotary Club have helped to support some of his trip financially, but the student needs to raise a further eight thousand dollars for the trip.

"Initially mum was concerned, because of the time I would have to take off from my final year of study, and because it is a lot of money, but then she decided it is a great opportunity, and it would be silly not to take it," he said.

Rotary President John Rankin has thrown the club's support behind the fundraising.

'I can't tell you how thrilled we are for Brody. He is a young man with unlimited options and we will do all we can to help him.

"Brody's participation in this forum is a personal achievement for him and raising the funds will be a spectacular achievement for Cowra."

The high achieving student is asking for some help from his local community.

"I'm asking Cowra to help me reach this goal. I know everyone has financial commitments, I'm just hoping that a few dollars might be possible," he said.

The London conference is designed to provide a greater insight into science and its applications for the benefit of all mankind, and to develop a greater understanding between young people of all nations.

"I am really excited about building some global connections," he said.

"I think with that many like minded people in one place, with that much passion can lead to great things."

After the London section of the programme he will travel to Paris and Geneva.

In Geneva he will visit the United Nations and will have the chance to discover the excitement of research at CERN, one of the world's largest and most respected centres for scientific research, and home to the Large Hadron Collider, with over 2500 scientists researching fundamental physics.

"I am excited to visit the Large Hadron Collider, particle accelerator under Switzerland which is re-creating the big bang.

"It is essentially the holy grail of science; so that will be absolutely incredible," Mr Hannan said.

Brody's selection is the culmination of scientific studies, academic excellence and community participation.

He was initially nominated by the Rotary Club of Cowra to join the National Youth Science Forum in Canberra and after a regional application and interview process, was one of 432 Students Australia wide selected to attend the National Forum.

"It was quite daunting at times, as many of the other students at the forum are from private schools in Sydney.

"Some, who are in year nine, have even started university degrees, and you think to yourself how can I compare to them.

"But the selectors looked at students potential, and their passion for science," he said.

Brody has never been overseas before, and is excited for all aspects of the journey including applying for a passport, experiencing jet lag, and making international contacts.
