'Evil' Cowra man jailed

A Cowra man who used the online moniker of 'Evil' has been jailed for two-and-a-half years after he pleaded guilty to computer hacking.

David Noel Cecil had been charged with hacking into an internet provider with links to the National Broadband Network (NBN).

When appearing before Orange District Court last week, Mr Cecil was sentenced to six month's jail on 18 charges and two years jail on two other charges by Judge Anthony Blackmore.

The sentence includes a non-parole period of 12 months.

Mr Cecil's actions allegedly could have potentially caused considerable damage to Australia's national infrastructure.
