After the seniors were knocked out in their semi on Saturday the young guns of the Blues were the last hope of securing a flag for the Blues.
They took on Bathurst Teal on Sunday, a team that they had struggled to get past all year.
The Blues had beaten every side including Minor Premiers Orange who they defeated to advance to the Grand Final.
The game was a tight tussle with Bathurst holding a small lead at every break.
Cowra's midfield of Callum Hogan, Jaylem Cutmore, Jaylan Simpson and Tristian Reid were throwing everything at Bathurst every time Bathurst looked like getting away on Cowra the Blues would respond with a goal.
The Blues backline of Finn Ryan, Ella Roberts, Luke Kinsey and Djahn Newton were strong down back. They were strong all game long as they have been all year. The Blues forward line of Djakai Reid, Elliot Bedford, Craig Johnson, Chris Gibb, Blake and Dylan Graham and Jake Roberts battled hard for the ball kicking some important goals.
At the final siren the young Blues were disappointed with the result but coach Kim Reid was proud of his young side for making it to the final game of the year.
Final Score Bathurst Teal 4-5-29 defeated Cowra 3-1-19
Goal Kickers Cowra- Jaylan Simpson 2, Callum Hogan 1
A big congratulations to Tristian Reid for coming in second in the League Under 11s Best and Fairest Count.
Jai Doolan was the best of the Cowra Under 14s coming in 4th place.
A reminder that the Blues will be holding their presentation day on Sunday September 1 at the BBQ area adjacent to the Cowra pool.
The day kicks off at 12pm and the theme is to wear something blue.
I hope to see all the Under 11s and 13s parents and supporters there.
Thank you to everybody that supported the up-and-coming stars of the Cowra Blues Juniors, Mick and Roz Hill for managing both junior teams, Dan Wallis for putting his hand up and coaching the 14s and all the parents who encouraged the kids to come and have a go at AFL.
Until next year go the Blues.
