The main event, the public tasting, on Saturday night was well co-ordinated and left the visitors happy and the wines well tasted. The Cowra Show Society worked hard to organise the 1400 wine entries, as well as the food and security on the night.
"A lot goes on behind the scenes," said Kay Holst, a wine show volunteer.
There were some good local results; Rosnay Organic Wines earned a silver award for their 2008 Cabernet, while Kalari Wines and Swinging Bridge both received the bronze accolade for their wines.
Kalari Wines received its bronze for a 2013 Verdelho. Swinging Bridge earned two bronze awards, one for its 2011 Shiraz and the other for its 2011 Reserve Shiraz.
Windowrie was awarded a Gold medal for their 2010 Family Reserve Shiraz which was not entered as a wine made from locally sourced fruit.
Cowra Tourism worked closely the Show Society to ensure the whole weekend went smoothly.
Cowra Tourism Manager, Belinda Virgo, says the weekend could not have been such a success without the help of Major sponsor Optimal Pharmacy.
"The support from Optimal Pharmacy allowed the team to deliver a strategic marketing campaign promoting the event, which undoubtedly resulted in increased exposure for the event and higher ticket sales," Belinda said.
The side show events were successful, with many of the tours and classes booked out before the weekend. The gourmet markets at The Mill were wonderful, offering a range of fancy jams, chutneys, relishes, cheeses, chocolates, and artworks, as well as fresh meat and veg from local grocers.Belinda believes the weekend was a great success."We have been receiving great feedback from visitors who have traveled to the region for the weekend," Belinda said.
The Wine Show will run again next year, hopefully producing more great results, not only for the industry but for Cowra Tourism.
