The Decca fire has now spread to 2487 hectares, according to the latest report from the New South Rural Fire Service early this morning.
Wyangala area residents spent the night watching the glow of the fire, with reports circulating Grabine Park is evacuated and closed.
We are waiting on an official update on the status of Wyangala Waters State Park.
From the NSW Rural Fire Service facebook page yesterday:
"The fire has moved into thick bush land and is moving towards the park but wind does keep changing, i think it has reached close to the old shop (shop up from Grabine park) It has moved back on itself once already. There has been a high number of planes, choppers and trucks protecting my nan and pops stock and house paddock all day, they are doing an amazing job! Not sure about other properties can only speak for my grandparents.
"As far as I know there are crews down near Grabine, on Greenmantle rd and at Glen Oak."
Wednesday midday:
The smoke from a large fire burning between Bigga and Wyangala Dam is being smelt dozens of kilometres away by residents of Cowra.
The Decca fire - described by the NSW Rural Fire Service website as 15 kilometres north west of Bigga and adjacent to the Decca fire trail - has currently burnt out more than 1700 hectares in the Upper Lachlan shire.
The fire started yesterday and overnight has continued to devour the hilly countryside.
Aerial water bombing is occurring, plus earth work.
The fire’s isolation and the rugged terrain is believed to be posing challenges for those battling the blaze.
Mobile phone coverage is extremely limited in the area.
The NSW Rural Fire Service currently has it listed as an advice situation at present.
