Koori team prepares for carnival

10 Feb, 2012 01:38 PM
The Cowra Kooris AFL side will attend the annual Jack Atkinson Memorial Carnival on February 24 and 25.

Football teams from around NSW and ACT will be represented at the drug and alcohol free event and will see Aboriginal community members converge on Maher Oval, Wagga for two days of first class footy.

Now in its third year, the Carnival was introduced by NAIFA (NSW/ACT Indigenous Football Association) as a means to support the increasing interest in AFL in NSW and the ACT indigenous communities.

The carnival is also used to showcase indigenous talent to those in the big leagues.
