03 Sep 10 | Final Round of Club Championships Cowra MCRC held Round 6 of their Club Championship on Sunday, 29 May. The weather was perfect and all riders where keen to add to their individual point score tally. Cowra MCRC will be holding their Annual Presentation Night on Saturday, October 30. Venue to be advised. The club wishes Jack Dawes a speedy recovery after his accident on Sunday.
03 Sep 10 | Mixed Pairs Championships The semi-finals and final of the mixed pairs were played last weekend and, once again, big margins were the name of the game. On Saturday the match between Mona and Charlie Browne against Ruby Fogg and Rod Veney saw the Brownes lead 7-2 after six ends before a six on the next end put Ruby and Rod only down by one.
03 Sep 10 | HOCKEY The last week of the competition rounds is upon us and there is a lot at stake for the teams vying for third and fourth position. This close tussle will make for a very interesting round of games guaranteed to entertain all who come to watch - nail biting stuff.
Eagles 13s ready for their biggest day
03 Sep 10 | The Cowra Eagles under 13 rugby union team will look to finish a remarkable season this Saturday when they take on the Wellington Redbacks in the Central West grand final at Forbes. The game to kick off at 9:30am and will be a real cracker as these two teams have been the dominant sides of the competition all season.

Myers calls it quits to mark the end of an era for Cowra Netball
01 Sep 10 | She’s been the rock of Cowra Netball for more than two decades, but last weekend Janet Myers decided it was time to let someone else take over. Myers, who won the Bob Barr Memorial Award in 2008, has coached several Cowra Stage Age teams, been on the committee for many years, and is a life member of the Cowra Netball Association.
Golden Oldies dust of the cobwebs
01 Sep 10 | A great game of Golden Oldies Rugby was enjoyed by all players and a large crowd on Saturday. Inevitably the game ended in a draw and veteran’s rugby was the real winner. Whilst there were many highlights there was none more exciting then President Casey Proctor’s attempted cover tackle on Ian Hindmarsh near the end of the game.
Barbarians win the Dairy Farmers Plate
01 Sep 10 | The belief in the CWJRU u/15 Barbarians came to realisation on Sunday when the team made of players from Cowra, Bathurst and Dubbo Rhino’s came through and won the Dairy Farmers Plate at Dubbo. The team is a composition of players who’s own clubs were not able to field an under 15s team in the 2010 season.
St Raph's reach State rugby league final
01 Sep 10 | St Raph’s seven-a-side team was runners up at the State Telstra Legends of League last Wednesday. Rick Nobes was named St Raph’s Best and Fairest for the day.
Magpies 15s lose in lacklustre display
01 Sep 10 | The under 15s Magpies had high hopes of winning their final round match against Orange CYMS especially so when the game was transferred from Orange to Cowra due to wet grounds in Orange. Unfortunately however, it wasn’t to be with the Cowra boys going down 30-20.
30 Aug 10 | Wonthella’s Eddie Dodd has caused a first round boil over at the Australian Indoor Championships after accounting for national squad member Gerard Beath in stunning fashion.
Bowling Club lends support to Legacy
30 Aug 10 | Legacy Bowls Day was held last Wednesday to help raise funds for dependents of deceased ex-servicemen. Ray Walsh and the team from Legacy wishes to thank the Bowling Club for their support.

30 Aug 10 | Last Wednesday, 10 boys from the St Raphael’s school travelled down to Sydney to play in the state wide seven a side tournament.
Grand final bound
30 Aug 10 | The Cowra Blues are the first team into the Reliance Petroleum AFL grand final after they handed arch-rivals Bathurst Bushrangers a football lesson at Mulyan Oval on Saturday. The Blues thumped last year's premiers by 23-8-146 to 9-10-64, after kicking eight first-quarter goals. Coach, Frank Bright couldn’t hide his excitement after the game.
Canowindra edge out locals in Presidents Day
27 Aug 10 | President’s Day Last Sunday we had the best weather for weeks when Terry Peterswald celebrated his first President’s Day. Twenty two teams of triples took part including visitors representing the Lachlan Valley District (president Les Tysoe, vice-president Alan Baker and secretary Graeme Hunter), Young, Canowindra, Woodstock, Grenfell and Gooloogong.

Garratt makes Central West tennis team
27 Aug 10 | Congratulations to Tayla Garratt who has been selected to represent the Central West team to compete at the under 10s NSW Medibank Teams Carnival in Cessnock on October 9 and 10. Teams from all over the state, both city and country, will be represented so it should be a first class competition with the best players in the state participating.
Alana Ryan excels for the Western Region Netball team
27 Aug 10 | Cowra school student Alana Ryan was recently chosen to represent Western Region at the State Netball Carnival in Camden. The Western Region team consisted of three players each from Boorowa and Orange, two from Dubbo, one from Wylong, and Alana from Cowra.
