Service hopes to clean up on preloved toys

14 Jan, 2009 09:24 AM
Cowra Family Support Service staff are in the post Christmas clean up of toys.

The difference for this service is that they are hoping for donations to make their pile of goods even bigger.

“The Cowra Family Support Service conducts a Toy Library and would

welcome any donations of toys that your family no longer needs,” said service spokesperson, Jan Chivers.

“So, if you are having your yearly Toy Box clean-up and have toys to dispose of please think of us!

“You can drop your toys into our rooms at 5 Vaux Street (opposite Cowra Public School) or phone us on 6342 3432 and we will collect them.”

Most suitable toys are those with a firm surface that can be washed after each use.

The service also welcomes games and books in good

condition.

Toy Library toys are also used by children who come to the Playgroups which use the Family Support Service rooms.

It is open to anyone for a $10 per year joining fee.

“That’s all you pay to take home three different items for a two week period,” Ms Chivers said.

“We currently have about 500 toys in our Cowra and Canowindra Toy Libraries.

Toys range from large ride- in vehicles to puzzles and games.”

The Toy Library will be closed to borrowing in January while staff members computerise and document the collection of toys.

For more information, phone 6342 3432.
