The Cowra Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) was given a welcomed helping hand on Sunday, February 14 after receiving a $1400 cheque donation from the Australian Goldwing Association at the Cowra Pony Club.
The money was raised by the Goldwing group during a raffle and entertainment night held during the associations’ yearly rally at Cowra, held in October 2009.
Australian Goldwing Association area representative Alan Springett said the Cowra RDA was a worthy recipient of the raised funds.
“We have been going to Cowra for our rally for the last 10 years and it has been a bit of a tradition that we hold a raffle night and raise money for different RDA’s in Cowra, Orange and Bathurst,” Mr Springett said.
“Last year was our 10th anniversary and we ended up raising more money in a single raffle then we ever had [previously]. We decided that the Cowra RDA was a most worthy group to receive all of the raised funds,” he said.
Items used in the Goldwing Association’s rally were donated from local central west businesses.
“I would like to thank all the business houses and chapter members involved in the fund-raising for their generosity.”
Cowra Riding for the Disabled president Len Crowe said the donation was a pleasant surprise and will boost the association’s capacity to meet ongoing costs throughout the year.
“The donation was very good and it is much appreciated. It will be a very big help for us with our insurance costs,” Mr Crowe said.
The Australian Goldwing Association is a group of recreational motorbike riders in various central west towns that form individual clubs.
