‘Elvettes’ pay homage to the King

19 Mar, 2008 08:13 AM
It’s becoming a ritual that this group of Elvettes are going to find hard to top every year.

Once again, the Cowra chapter of the Elvis Presley fan club made the annual pilgrimage to Parkes for the Elvis Festival.

This dedicated group of friends again showed their love of everything associated with The King by attending and participating – this time as Elvettes.

“We were in the parade this year and we rode on the back of a beautifully restored 1942 Ford pickup from Lithgow,” said ‘Elvette’, Leanne Heilman.

“We attended many shows often assisting other popular Elvis tribute artists.”

The 2008 group consisted of Christine McIntyre, Leanne Heilman, Julie Vandyke, Ricki Moore and Rhonda Kelton.

“We have a wonderful few days celebrating Elvis with other crazy Elvis fan’s from all over. It gets bigger and better each year, with very funny stuff happening all weekend,” said Chris McIntyre.
