Emergency services were called to a single vehicle roll over on Monday morning where a 44-year-old Cowra woman was airlifted by the NSW Air Ambulance to the intensive care unit at Goulburn Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
According to police, the accident occurred at about 9.30am on the Olympic Highway 10 kilometres north of Young where the sole occupant of the vehicle was heading towards
Cowra.
The woman suffered serious leg injuries as a result of the collision and was trapped for a short time before being freed by the NSW Fire and Rescue Brigade.
Paramedics at the scene told police she suffered a compound fracture to her leg, damage to her arm and possible internal bleeding.
Traffic was interrupted for around two hours while the helicopter landed at the scene to transport the woman.
Cootamundra Highway Patrol team leader Sergeant Daniel Moylan said investigations into the cause of the collision are continuing.
“It is still too early to say – but fatigue could have been a contributing factor,” he said.
Police inquiries in relation to Monday’s accident will continue with officers hoping to speak with the driver in coming weeks.
