Changes made to watering times in line with daylight saving

20 Nov, 2009 09:08 AM
Cowra Shire General Manager, Paul Devery said yesterday that as of today Cowra’s water restrictions would be altered to correspond with daylight saving time.

“Due to daylight saving, it is possible to water gardens much later in the day, which is desirable as it means that the water is not evaporating under the heat of the midday summer sun,” Mr Devery said.

Under the changes, residents will be permitted to use sprinklers and automatic watering systems on their garden / lawn for 2 hours per day between 6pm and 8pm on the Alternate Days system.

Council stresses the new water

restrictions will be strictly monitored and those residents who choose not to

comply with the restrictions will be penalised.

“Details of the new restrictions can be found in Council’s Noticeboard and on the website. We will also be doing a

letterbox drop to ensure that all residents receive notification of the changes.”
