Students celebrate forty years of exchange program
25 Aug 10 | Past and present students who have participated in the Cowra-Seikei exchange program-one of the longest running in the country-celebrated the 40th anniversary last weekend. Since 1970, the exchange program has provided students from both schools with the opportunity to experience a different cultural environment, learn a new language and develop new friendships.
Police help raise $5000 for PCYC
25 Aug 10 | Cowra police officers have helped raise more than $5,000 for the Cowra Police Citizens and Youth Club’s new building on the Young Road. The amount was a result of a combined charity Golf Day, raffle and monster auction, hosted on Friday, August 13. Now that the final figures are in, it was time to say thank you, explained Sergeant Terry Johns, one of the key organisers.
Minotaur continues its search for copper and gold in Cowra
25 Aug 10 | Minotaur Exploration is continuing their search in the Cowra region for copper and gold, with drilling finding interesting geological rock types. Senior Geologist Barry Vanderstellt said last year was very busy for the exploration work with major helicopter airborne surveys identifying areas of interest and 100 targets.
25 Aug 10 | Cowra Mayor Bill West has welcomed the announcement by NSW Minister for Water Phil Costa that a new bridge will be built across the Lachlan River to ensure continued access to Wyangala Dam, Wyangala village and areas to the north. “This is an excellent result for the Councils of Cowra and Boorowa but more particularly the Wyangala community,” explained Cr West.

Local branches across the state will hold their own form of celebration including open days and community celebrations to bring attention to the roles played by this community conscious organisation.

This year Gooloogong was nominated for the award, which comes under the Tidy Towns and Keep Australia Beautiful initiative.
23 Aug 10 | The State Government finally confirmed on Friday a new bridge will be built across the Lachlan River just outside the village of Wyangala to ensure continued access for residents during a $31 million upgrade of Wyangala Dam. NSW Minister for Water Phil Costa made the announcement, guaranteeing a form of an alternative route before the road atop the wall is closed.

The changing face of JGW Harvest and Tillage Support
20 Aug 10 | Many of you may have noticed a number of changes at JGW Harvest & Tillage Support over the past year that involved the relocation to newer and bigger premises on Olympic Highway. The growing demand for our services meant that we had to increase our capacity by expanding our operations. We have now completed a custom fit out of what used to be the wool stores into a fully functioning service workshop, built a new spare parts showroom and offices.
